FIS is...

...the oldest and one of the most respected journals in North America on social work and related social and human services. It has been in publication since 1920 and has had four titles: The Family (1920-1946), The Journal of Social Casework (1947-1949), Social Casework (1950-1989), and Families in Society (1990 to present).

...a forum for linking scholarship in social work and the social sciences to the world of practice. We want the quality information that we publish to be put to use and to improve the lives of people. The articles in our journal represent the art and science of our work, and are at the forefront of emerging issues and trends in our field.

...useful, timely, and relevant information in the field of social work and related human services.

Whether you are a practitioner, an administrator, an academic, or a student, you will find Families in Society is essential to your personal and professional development.
